My name is Joyce Kimball. I am a Certified Professional Midwife, a Birth Doula, a Childbirth Educator and a mom of two great kids. In 1998 I attended a friend’s home birth. When I assisted my friend in the birthing of her VBAC baby, I realized that I wanted to attend women and families during the childbearing year. When a homebirth midwife rented space below my husband’s computer store and was looking for an apprentice, I raised my hand. I thought I would just “put my toe in” but instead jumped in with both feet, going to DONA doula training in 2000, attending home births as an apprentice, attending hospital births as a birth doula and starting a Midwifery Studies Program. In February 2002, I completed my apprenticeship and Midwifery Studies Program and opened my own supervised home birth midwifery practice. In February 2008, I completed my years long process – I sat for and passed the national board exam and received my license as a Certified Professional Midwife.
I attend on average two to four births per month in a variety of settings; homes, birth centers and hospitals. My life providing birth services is a joy to me. I am honored to be with women and families during the childbearing year.
